What You'll Learn
The new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) come into force on 25 May affecting every business that deals with EU citizens. Fines for non-compliance are stiff so will you be ready?
Like it or not, these new legal requirements are coming into force. Every business needs to be ready and a lot of business owners are getting nervous right now.
But, as my guest Kelly Bater explains, businesses who take this seriously and implement the necessary practices within their organisation have nothing to fear. The biggest problem will likely be where businesses avoid the issue or fail to take action.
At Get Real About Business we’ve already taken steps to make ourselves compliant, but I wasn’t going to take any chances. For that reason, I invited Kelly to come in and give us the low down of everything we need to know to stay out of trouble.
I asked Kelly to explain what exactly are the new regulations, why they are coming into force and what we need to do to prepare ourselves.
The crib notes are that the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR):
- will come into force on 25 May 2018
- will affect any business that collects or retains information about living EU citizens
- is designed to provide EU citizens with greater levels of protection about their personal data than ever before
Kelly is particularly helpful in this interview. Alongside all the great information she shares do be sure to check out the links to ICO website on this page.
