The cold hard truth of it is that nobody really wants to receive your newsletter and they certainly don’t want to be on another mailing list. Even if your newsletter is pure gold. If you want to get someone on your mailing list you need something called a lead magnet.
What’s a lead magnet?
A lead magnet is some kind of free goodie that you give away to your prospects in exchange for their contact details and permission to get in touch with them. It must be so good and so enticing that your prospects will want to bite your hands off to get it. But you’re going to give it away for free, right?
You give your freebie away because you realise that your customers buy on their timescales and not yours. If they’re not ready now, thanks to the power of email, you’ll be able to keep in touch with them until they are ready. Along the way, you’ll also educate them about what you do and how you can help them.
